The effort to understand the universe is one of the very few things which lifts human life a little above the level of farce and gives it some of the grace of tragedy.

Waking Up from Writer’s Block

Though there is only one thing that keep me going : the reason I blog (Decoding Eden) is so I can reach out as many people as possible, and help lighting up their lives. Give them value. It’s the sense of service that matters most.

If I keep being chained by perfectionism and remained stuck, I can’t help anyone.

The fire must remain burns.

What can you do when Allah seems to not answering your supplication yet? Tawakkul is the answer :)

What can you do when Allah seems to not answering your supplication yet? Tawakkul is the answer :)

When I open my eyes to the outer world I feel myself as a drop in the sea. But when I close my eyes and look within, I see the whole universe as a bubble raised in the ocean of my heart.

The Beginning is Always the Hardest

"Journey of the thousand miles begin from the first step" (Chinese Proverb)

I can’t even believe I’d ever set up my first Islamic blog, Decoding Eden. Even myself who has been a veteran blogger, setting up a spiritual-centered Islamic blog sparks a certain fear…

I feared other people would come criticizing me it’s not “Islamic enough”, or that it’s too airy fairy, or that some uber-muslims would come attacking me “you are deviant Sufi” i.e. because I heavily quoting Rumi and other Sufism work (I knew I’m very harsh and unloving to myself at times and unconsciously think other people would too).

But when it’s online, boy was it a relief! People are giving positive feedback, and some emotionally overwhelming positive messages to my email. I know I’ll keep Decoding Eden going for one reason : to help muslim folks (as well as non-muslim) improve their spiritual lives.

The irony, I always forget this one important lesson over and over again : Feel the fear and do it anyway.

When we’re expanding ourselves, that would be a pain as the price. A baby wasn’t born without the spilling of her mother’s blood and sweat. Just like Alice in Wonderland when her body was expanding from the magical cookie, so much that the antechamber wasn’t enough to contain it. Because we’re expanding ourselves, our old box, or our old way to see the world will not fit in anymore with our new self.

Last words, thank you for stopping by and welcome! :D
